Pension Advice and Retirement Planning

Pension Advice

We offer all types of pension advice to people of all ages. Vintage pensions advisers are fully qualified IFAs and provide unique and independent advice on Pensions, SIPPS and many other Pension Schemes, no matter how large, old or small. So regardless of if you’re under 55 with multiple pensions or over 70 holding a single pension scheme, we can help you understand your options better. Common questions we help answer beyond just planning are “what age can I retire?” and “Do I have enough to retire at..?” around Stockton-on-tees and the North.

At different stages of our lives, we face different financial challenges. The period up to the age of retirement is known as the accumulation phase. From saving for a deposit on a first home through to saving for retirement, this is the stage of our lives where we seek to accumulate capital assets to provide income and financial security so that one day we no longer have to work.

Meanwhile, a combination of low interest rates, high inflation and increased longevity means that many of the UK’s retired population face financial challenges. For individuals approaching retirement, the many available pension options at retirement can be daunting and making the wrong decision can be costly and in addition, the impact of potential care home fee affordability and inheritance tax liabilities remains a concern.

As Chartered Financial Planners, we can help you make sense of your options in a language that you understand. For more information please contact us, or follow the links below for more information.

Retirement Planning

Pre-Retirement

Pre-Retirement Financial Planning

At different stages of our lives, we face different financial challenges. The period up to the age of retirement is known as the accumulation phase. From saving for a deposit on a first home through to saving for retirement, this is the stage of our lives where we seek to accumulate capital assets to provide income and financial security so that one day we no longer have to work.

The financial planning process is vital part of the pre-retirement phase as we can help you to visualise your objectives, put a plan in place to achieve these objectives and constantly review this place to ensure that you remain on track.

With a myriad of different savings vehicles and investment options to choose from, it is difficult to know where to start. In order for you to reach your objectives, within our financial plan we will advise and make recommendations (with appropriate tax strategies) from all relevant financial products, including;

  • Collective investments, such as unit trusts and OEICS
  • Investment trusts
  • Offshore and onshore investment bonds

  • Personal pension plans
  • Self invested personal pension plans (SIPPS)
  • Small self administered schemes (SSAS)

We also provide a Mortgage Advice Service which can help you manage your properties and ensure that you and your family remain protected during your pre-retirement days.

Post-Retirement

Post-Retirement Financial Planning

A combination of low interest rates, high inflation and increased longevity means that many of the UK’s retired population face financial challenges. Even for those individuals that are relatively well off, the impact of potential care home fees and inheritance tax liabilities remain a concern.

As Chartered Financial Planners, we are able to offer specialist advice in all areas, including:

Long Term Care Planning

Currently 1 in 5 people over the age of 70 receive care in the home, whilst it is estimated that there are around 420,000 adults in residential care homes. It is widely accepted that these figures will increase considerably in future years. There are many different potential solutions to the challenge of funding care costs. We provide advice on pre-funded policies, such as protection contracts and investment bonds, as well as immediate needs policies in cases where care has commenced or is about to commence. We specialise in providing advice in this area, including an assessment of State Benefits and Local Authority assistance.

Equity Release / Income Generation

For many people, their largest asset is their home. More and more people need to consider releasing part of the value of their home in return for a cash lump sum, or in the form of increased income. We can provide information and advice regarding all of the equity release options, including lifetime mortgages and home reversion plans.

Inheritance Tax Planning

Each individual is allowed to pass on assets up to a value of £325,000 on death without an inheritance tax liability (£650,000 for couples). Above these thresholds, inheritance tax is charged at the punitive rate of 40%. There are a range of options for reducing potential IHT liabilities, including Trusts, Whole of Life Assurance, use of gift allowances, etc. We can provide information regarding all of these options and tailor recommendations to suit individual needs.

Whatever the post-retirement challenges faced, Vintage is able to offer bespoke advice tailored to meet individual needs.
